High Carbon Steel SAE1055 is commonly used in the manufacturing of machinery, automotive parts, hand tools, cutting tools, and industrial equipment. It is also used for making blades and knives because of its ability to hold a sharp edge. High Carbon Steel SAE1055 is relatively easy to machine and can be welded, but precautions need to be taken to prevent cracking during the welding process. It can be hardened up to a certain level, but heat treatment must be carefully controlled to avoid brittleness.
