Although the NM450 wear-resistant steel plate can be machined using high-speed steel tools and superhard tools, compared with the general structural steel plate, the strength and hardness are higher, and it is not easy to machined materials, so according to the selected machining conditions, the processing time may be longer, or it may be due to serious damage to the tool, resulting in an increase in processing costs.
Therefore, the general precautions for machining are introduced, as well as the recommended conditions for various machining methods and various tool types.
First, the fixation of NM450 wear-resistant steel plate: Please use steel material pad to reliably fix the steel plate (processed material).
If not properly fixed, the steel plate can be dangerous to move during machining, which is likely to shorten the life of the bit and break the bit.
Second, the fixing of the tool: please use the drill clamp with the diameter of the drill bit, shorten the extension of the drill bit as much as possible, and fully tighten the installation on the spindle. If the drill extends too long, or is not properly fastened, it is likely to reduce rigidity or break the drill.
If the plate is thick and a longer bit extension has to be used, reduce the feed or cut compared to standard cutting conditions. In addition, the use of a longer shank drill is also very effective.
Three. Cutting fluid: Please supply enough cutting fluid. Water-soluble or oil-based cutting fluids can be used. If the supply of cutting fluid is insufficient, the drilling edge temperature of the drill bit is easy to rise, the wear amount is increased, and the drill bit is likely to break. If an internally cooled processing unit is used, internal oil supply is recommended.
Four, the choice of tools:
If you focus on reducing tool costs, it is recommended to use high-speed steel drill bits; If processing speed is a priority, it is recommended to use superhard bits.
When machining, select a bit with a blade length suitable for the thickness of the HARDOX500 steel plate. If the drill blade length is too long, the drill bit is easy to break due to the large amount of extension and the reduced rigidity.
Do not use a bit with a bad shape. When re-grinding is used, attention should be paid to reducing the eccentricity of the transverse edge and the height difference of the cutting edge during grinding.
