42CrMo4 1.7225 Special Steels Introduction:

42CrMo4 steel is ultra-high strength steel, with high strength and toughness, hardenability is also good, no obvious tempering brittleness, high fatigue limit and resistance to multiple shocks after tempering treatment, low temperature impact toughness is good. The steel is suitable for the manufacture of large and medium-sized plastic molds requiring a certain strength and toughness, and the surface quenching after tempering is usually used as the heat treatment program.

42CrMo4 alloy steel application scope:

42CrMo4 alloy steel has the characteristics of strength, high hardenability, good toughness, small deformation during quenching, high creep strength and lasting strength at high temperature. It is used to manufacture forgings requiring higher strength and larger tempering cross-section than 35CrMo4 steel, such as large gear for locomotive traction, supercharger transmission gear, pressure vessel gear, rear shaft, connecting rod and spring clamp with great load, and can also be used for drilling pipe joints and fishing tools in oil deep Wells below 2000m, and can be used for bending machine molds.

Hot working specification

Normalizing specification

Normalizing temperature 850~900℃, oven air cooling;

High temperature tempering specification

Tempering temperature 680~700℃, oven air cooling;

Tempering specification

Preheating temperature 680~700℃, quenching temperature 840~880℃, oil cooling, tempering temperature 580℃, water cooling or oil cooling, hardness ≤217HBW;

Strengthening and toughening treatment

Quenching temperature 900℃, tempering temperature 560℃, hardness (37±1)HRC;

Induction hardening specification

Quenching temperature 900℃, tempering temperature 150~180℃, hardness 54~60HRC.
