1. Features and uses:

42CrMo4 is a low alloy steel with high strength, toughness and wear resistance, suitable for the manufacture of parts that work under high load and high temperature environments, such as bearings, gears, crankshafts, etc.

2. Composition parameters:

Carbon (C) : 0.38-0.45%

Silicon (Si) : 0.40% Max

Manganese (Mn) : 0.60-0.90%

Phosphorus (P) : Maximum 0.025%

Sulfur (S) : Maximum 0.035%

Chromium (Cr) : 0.90-1.20%

Molybdenum (Mo) : 0.15-0.30%

3, heat treatment:

42CrMo4 can be used for normalizing, quenching and tempering heat treatment processes. Normalizing temperature is 850-880℃, quenching temperature is 820-860℃, tempering temperature is 540-680℃.

4, heat treatment hardness:

After normalizing, quenching and tempering treatment, the hardness of 42CrMo4 can reach HRC 22-32.

5, mechanical properties and surface treatment:

The mechanical properties of 42CrMo4 are as follows:

Tensile strength: 1080-1220 MPa

Yield strength: 930-1080 MPa

Elongation: 10-11%

Impact toughness: ≥ 35 J

The surface treatment of 42CrMo4 can be galvanized, spray painted, sandblasting and other methods.

6, machining and grinding capacity:

42CrMo4 has good machining and grinding capabilities, which can be processed by turning, milling, drilling, cutting, grinding, etc.

7. Physical properties:

42CrMo4 has a density of 7.85 g/cm³, a thermal conductivity of 42.7W /mK, a linear expansion coefficient of 11.7×10^-6/℃, and a specific heat capacity of 0.46 kJ/(kg·K).
