EN C60 Knife Steel
EN C60 is a high carbon steel alloy often used in knife making due to its excellent edge retention, toughness, and wear resistance. Its composition includes 0.6% carbon, which provides these properties while also making it relatively easy to sharpen. Despite being a high carbon steel, EN C60 is not as corrosion-resistant as some other knife steels, so it requires more attention and care to prevent rusting.
Below are the specifications for EN C60 Knife Steel:
1. Chemical composition: The chemical composition conforms to the European standard EN 10083-2, where the carbon content is 0.57-0.65%, the silicon content is 0.15-0.35%, and the manganese content is 0.60-0.90%, which can improve the strength and hardness of the steel.
2. Heat treatment: The best performance and hardness can be obtained through proper heat treatment, under normal circumstances, the use of normalizing and quenching treatment can make the hardness of steel up to 58-62 HRC (Rockwell hardness), which can meet the needs of most blades and tools.
3. Machinability: has good machinability, can be cold and hot processing, such as forging, rolling, quenching, tempering, winding, etc., can be processed into various shapes and sizes of blades and tools according to different needs.
4. Wear resistance: the hardness and strength are very high, so it has excellent wear resistance and can be used for a long time without easy wear and deformation.
5. Corrosion resistance: It has a certain corrosion resistance and can be used in a low oxidation environment, but attention needs to be paid to treatment and maintenance to prevent rust on the steel surface.
