S20C

Characteristic application range

S20C strength is slightly higher than 15 steel, rarely quenched, no tempering brittleness. High cold deformation plasticity, generally for bending, calendering, bending and hammer arch and other processing, arc welding and contact welding performance is good, gas welding thickness is small, strict shape requirements or complex shape of the workpiece prone to crack. The machinability of cold drawing or normalizing state is better than annealing state, S20C is used to manufacture parts with little force and high toughness requirements.

peculiarity

Cold extruded, carburized hardened steel. The steel belongs to low-carbon carbon steel, the steel has low strength, good toughness, plasticity and weldability. Yield strength ≥245MPa, tensile strength ≥245MPa, elongation ≥28%. Normalizing can promote spheroidization of structure, refine large block proeutectoid ferrite, and improve cutting performance of blank less than 160HBS.

Processing specification

Temperature 700-720℃, holding time 8-15h, with a cooling speed of 50-100℃/h, reduce the temperature ≤550-600℃, air cooling.

Hardness ≤143HBS before treatment, hardness ≤131HBS after treatment.

Normalizing specification

Temperature 870-920℃, oven air cooling.

Annealing specification

The temperature is about 860℃, and the oven is air-cooled.

Quenching specification

Temperature 910℃±10℃, 10%NaCl brine cooling.

Performance and application

The strength is slightly higher than S15C steel, good weldability, no tempering brittleness, and machinability can be improved by water quenching.

use

It is used to manufacture various mechanical parts that are not subjected to great stress and require high toughness. It is used in general machinery, automobiles and agricultural machinery to manufacture carburizing and carbonitriding parts with high surface hardness requirements and small core requirements.
