What Is The Difference Between Stainless Steel Surface 2B And BA?

R

There are many types of stainless steel cold-rolled product surfaces, among which 2B and BA are the most important. What is the difference between stainless steel surface 2B and BA? Today, the editor of JinBaiLai will give you some popular science.

1.Definition of 2B and BA

  • BA (Bright Annealing), which means bright annealing, refers to the surface state of stainless steel cold-rolled plates after being bright annealed and then flattened.

  • 2B refers to the surface of stainless steel, which represents the matte surface. It is also called 2B matte surface, which cannot reflect the human figure. The stainless steel on the 2B side is soft, that is, the hardness HV (Vickers hardness) is 150-200 degrees.

2.Surface Treatment Process

  • 2B: Cold rolling - annealing, pickling - flattened

  • BA: cold rolled - bright annealed - flattened

The main difference is the different annealing process. 2B is annealed and pickled, with a certain degree of oxidation on the surface and darker color; BA has been bright annealed, and the surface is not oxidized and bright.

3.The Difference In Appearance Between 2B And BA

  • The surface of 2B is relatively rough, glossy, with some scratches, and gray;

  • BA has a smooth surface, high gloss, and silvery white.

4.The Differences Between 2B And Ba In Terms Of Mechanics, Physics, Etc.

The BA surface and the 2B surface are the same in terms of process. The different annealing methods make the surface states different, but there is no essential difference between the two. Therefore, there is basically no difference in mechanical and physical properties. The advantage of BA surface is that it is beautiful and has slightly better corrosion resistance due to its smooth surface.

5.Differences In Application

  • The 2B surface is usually used for products that do not require high appearance requirements, such as stainless steel pipes, automobile exhaust pipes, etc.;

  • The BA surface is usually used for products that require high appearance requirements, such as stainless steel tableware, kitchen utensils, etc.

In general, the 2B surface is relatively cheap and suitable for industrial fields, while the BA surface is relatively high-end and suitable for high-end consumer products.
