SAE8660 is the American ASTM standard Ni-Cr-Mo alloy structural steel, with high hardness, wear resistance and good red hardness and toughness characteristics, more used in the manufacture of high-end alloy tools at home and abroad, especially for logging chainsaw chain.

According to the application characteristics of the chainsaw chain, the raw material of the steel plate needs to have a good shape, very high dimensional accuracy and surface quality, high purity of molten steel, uniform internal organization and mechanical properties. Therefore, the purity control of molten steel in the process of SAE8660 smelting, the surface and internal quality control of continuous casting slab, the dimensional precision control and surface quality control of the finishing rolling process, and the cooling of the steel coil after rolling are very important.

At present, only a few foreign advanced steel enterprises produce this high-quality SAE8660 alloy tool steel. There is little production in China, especially the development and production of thin slab continuous casting and rolling with short flow has not been reported. Compared with the conventional continuous casting and conventional hot rolling line, thin slab continuous casting and rolling has more advantages in thin specification production, mainly in the following aspects: the continuous casting billet does not cool down, which is conducive to improving the internal segregation, preventing the surface cracks generated in the cooling process, and is conducive to reducing the thickness of the oxide sheet on the surface of the billet, so as to improve the surface quality of the subsequent hot rolled sheet. The finishing mill group can produce thinner specifications, and the product's plate shape and dimensional accuracy are better.

Product specification

1. Chemical composition: High Carbon Steel SAE8660 contains high levels of carbon, manganese, chromium, and vanadium, along with other alloying elements. This composition gives it superior mechanical properties and makes it resistant to wear and tear.

2. Heat treatment: AISI/SAE 8660 Data Sheet can be heat-treated to improve its strength and toughness. The heat treatment process involves quenching and tempering the steel to achieve the desired properties.

3. Applications: High Carbon Steel SAE8660 is commonly used in the manufacturing of gears, shafts, axles, and other components that require high strength and durability. It is also used in the automotive and aerospace industries.

4. Machinability: sae 8660 alloy structural steel round bar exhibits good machinability, which means it can be easily cut, drilled, and shaped into desired forms.

5. Weldability: SAE8660 SPECIAL STEEL STRIP can be welded using common welding methods such as gas tungsten arc welding and gas metal arc welding. However, the welding process must be carefully controlled to avoid any defects.
