AISI 304 steel is a widely used type of stainless steel that contains a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This steel is also known as 18/8 stainless steel because of its composition. It has excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and is suitable for most welding methods. It is commonly used in food processing equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and architectural applications. It has high-temperature strength and is well suited for use in harsh environments that require high corrosion resistance.
