Stainless steel 316, also known as UNS S31600, is a commonly used austenitic stainless steel. It has a higher resistance to corrosion than other grades of stainless steel, making it ideal for use in marine environments, medical equipment, and chemical processing applications. It is also known for its excellent high-temperature strength and resistance to scaling and pitting. Stainless steel 316 contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum, which gives it its superior corrosion resistance properties. It is a popular choice for a wide range of industrial applications due to its durability, strength, and resistance to corrosion.

- good oxidation resistance: stainless steel 316 and air, water, acid and other media contact, its surface will form a dense chromium oxide film (that is, "oxide") to prevent subsequent oxidation reaction, with very good oxidation resistance.
