The heat treatment method usually used for steel plates is solid solution treatment, that is, the steel is heated to 1050 ~ 1100℃, the heat preservation eliminates the as-cast structure, and the single-phase austenitic structure is obtained, and then the water quenching is used to maintain this structure to normal temperature. The strength, plasticity and toughness of the steel after heat treatment are greatly improved, so this heat treatment method is also often called water toughening treatment.

Mechanical properties after heat treatment are: b615 ~ 1275MPa 0.2340 ~ 470MPa 15% ~ 85% 15% ~ 45% AKL96-294J /cm2 HBl80 ~ 225 high manganese steel after solution treatment there will be a small amount of carbide is not dissolved, when the number is less in line with the inspection standards, it can still be used. When the high manganese steel with austenitic structure is subjected to impact load, plastic deformation occurs on the metal surface.

As a result of deformation strengthening, there are obvious work hardening phenomena in the deformed layer, and the surface hardness is greatly increased. When the impact load is low, it can reach HB300 ~ 400, and when the impact load is high, it can reach HB500 ~ 800. With the impact load, the depth of the surface hardening layer can reach 10 ~ 20mm. The high hardness hardened layer resists impact abrasive wear.

High manganese steel has excellent anti-wear properties under strong impact abrasive wear conditions, so it is often used in mining, building materials, thermal power and other mechanical equipment to make wear-resistant parts. Under the condition of low impact, because the work hardening effect is not obvious, high manganese steel can not play the material characteristics.
