Product Introduction

42CrMo4 1.7225 Plate

What is EN 10083? EN10083 is a European standard developed by the different member States of the European nation states in 2006.

The standard is called "Quenched and Tempered Steel". Technical delivery conditions for alloy steel. "42CrMo4 in EN 10083

Quasi-median definition.

Why is 42CrMo4 called Grade 4142? When the material grade is specified as high-grade steel, it means that it has

Has powerful properties caused by chromium. However, this grade also applies to molybdenum, making it unique. 42CrMo4 Yes

UNS name alloy, also known as SAE-identified 4142 alloy.

42CrMo4 steel heat treatment:

42CrMo4 steel can be annealed, quenched and forged. A brief guide to this topic is as follows:

Annealed 42CrMo4 steel

Annealing should be performed on this type taking into account the following parameters:

The steel grade 42CrMo4 is heated, forged slowly and gradually, and forged fully in the temperature range of 800-850°C

Cool the furnace slowly and gradually to 480 degrees Celsius

Let it cool slowly, that is, annealing the steel in the air.

Quenching and tempering (Q+T)

Quenching and grinding should follow this process;

Heat material grade 42CrMo4 slowly to 880° C

At this temperature the steel is soaked in oil to harden it

When the steel reaches room temperature, it is tempered by heating it to an ideal temperature of 550 degrees Celsius.

Remove the 42CrMo4 grade alloy from the furnace and allow it to cool in air.

Forged 42CrMo4 alloy steel

The following steps should be followed to complete this process:

Allows steel grade 42CrMo4 to preheat slowly and evenly

The forging temperature is raised to the Celsius range, that is, 1150-1200°.

Ensure forging temperature is maintained above 850 degrees Celsius

Equivalent material grades in other international standards:

The SAE equivalent grades for this type are 4140 and 4142 steel

In the JIS logo, the corresponding material is called SCM440H alloy.

In the DIN standard, the corresponding material is called section 1.7225 steel.

In the Swedish SS standard, the corresponding material is called 2244 steel.
