51CrV4(1.8159) spring steel has good mechanical properties and process properties, high hardenability, adding vanadium to fine-grain steel, reduce overheating sensitivity, improve strength and toughness, with high fatigue strength, yield ratio is also high, but poor weldability, low cold deformation plasticity.

Heat treatment specification and metallographic structure

Heat treatment specification: quench 850℃±20℃, oil cold; Tempering 500℃±50℃(for special needs,±30℃).

● Delivery status:

Hot rolled steel is delivered in heat treatment or no heat treatment state, cold drawn steel is delivered in heat treatment state.

Both 60Si2Mn and 51CrV4 are spring steels with similar mechanical properties.

Mechanical properties of 60Si2Mn: σs≥1176Mpa, σb≥1274Mpa, δs≥5%, ψ≥25%

51CrV4 Mechanical properties: σs≥1175Mpa, σb≥1500Mpa, δs≥6%, ψ≥40%, shear and torsion allowable stress ≥1050Mpa. Fatigue life reaches 3 million times; Allowable shear and torsion stress ≥1050Mpa.

The operating temperature of 51CrV4 can reach 300 degrees Celsius, and 60Si2Mn can only reach 250 degrees. In addition, 60Si2Mn is mostly used for the manufacture of plate springs, spiral coil springs and springs below 30mm wire diameter, and 51CrV4 is mostly used for the manufacture of springs with larger diameters.

51CrV4 is a higher level spring, used as a large section of high load important spring and operating temperature < 300 ℃ valve spring, piston spring, safety valve spring.
