Hardness:

295-355

Heat treatment:

42CrMo4 is a tempering alloy steel, which has a good combination of strength and toughness in the tempering state. After oil quenching, the steel will harden to ø60 mm bar diameter. Larger microstructures are not complete martensite.

Hardening:

First quenching slowly heated to 880°C, and then fully soaked at this temperature after quenching in oil or water. Temper tools as soon as they reach room temperature. The second quenching is heated to 780-820°C and then quenched in oil or water.

Temper:

It is heated to 205-649°C and then cooled in water or oil. Normal delivery hardness 18-22 HRC

Thermal performance:
Thermal conductivity: 0,42 kW/(cm*K)

Forging performance:

42CrMo4 is forged at 926 to 1205°C.

Stress Relief:

450-650°C

Standardization:

840-880 ℃

Annealing:

Heat 42CrMo4 forged steel slowly and thoroughly to 800-850°C;

Slow cooling in the furnace to 480℃;

The steel is annealed in air.

Density:

7.85kg/m3 Tensile strength: 655MPA

Machinability:

42CrMo4 alloy steel has good machinability in annealed state.

Welding:

Engineering steel 42CrMo4 has limited weldability. Preheating to 200-300°C is highly recommended; The upper limit should not be exceeded due to the risk of deterioration of the chromium layer. Alloy steel 42CrMo4 can be friction welded. However, precautions must be taken to limit the formation of undesirable microstructure in the welding zone.
