316 316L Stainless Steel
Can 316l stainless steel pipe use 312 electrode?
It can be used. 316I is an ultra-low carbon austenitic stainless steel with carbon content ≤0.04. 312 is a Cr23Ni13Mo2 stainless steel electrode with titanium calcium coating, carbon content ≤0.12, 312 has better corrosion resistance, crack resistance and oxidation resistance due to the higher Mo content in the weld. It can be used for both AC and DC, and has good operation process performance. However, the toughness of the weld is worse than A022 (E316L) welding rod.
