Productive process
1. Melting: The raw materials for stainless steel, such as iron, nickel, chromium, and other elements, are melted together in an electric furnace. This process can take up to 12 hours.
2. Casting: The molten steel is then cast into semi-finished forms, such as slabs, blooms, or billets. These forms can be further processed into finished products.
3. Hot Rolling: The semi-finished steel is heated and passed through large rollers to reduce its thickness and make it more uniform. This process also improves the steel's strength and formability.
4. Cold Rolling: The steel is further reduced in thickness at room temperature. This process gives the steel a smooth surface and further improves its mechanical properties.
5. Annealing: The steel is heated to a specific temperature and then cooled slowly. This process relieves stresses in the steel, improves its ductility, and refines its grain structure.
6. Pickling: The steel is immersed in a solution of acid and water to remove scale, rust, and other impurities from its surface.
7. Passivation: The steel is treated with a mild oxidant to form a thin, protective layer of chromium oxide on its surface. This layer helps to prevent corrosion.
8. Cutting: The steel is cut into sheets of the desired size.
9. Inspection and Testing: The finished 316 stainless steel sheets are inspected for defects and tested to ensure they meet the required mechanical properties.
10. Packaging: The sheets are packaged for storage or shipment.
