304 stainless steel are:

Physical Properties:

The physical properties of 304 stainless steel are:

- Density: 8.0 g/cm³
- Melting point: 1398-1454°C (2550-2650°F)
- Electrical conductivity: 3.05x10⁴ S/m
- Thermal conductivity: 16.3 W/(m·K)
- Specific heat capacity: 500 J/(kg·K)

Corrosion Resistance:

304 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, especially in acidic environments. It is resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. However, it may corrode in high-chloride environments, so it is not recommended for use in coastal areas or swimming pools.

Welding:

304 stainless steel is very weldable, but it can be prone to sensitization during welding, which makes it susceptible to intergranular corrosion. To avoid this, it is recommended to use low-carbon or stabilized grades of stainless steel filler metal, such as 308L, 309, or 316L. Preheating and post-weld heat treatment may also be necessary to prevent sensitization.
