Material properties

High manganese steel has excellent anti-wear properties under strong impact abrasive wear conditions, so it is often used in mining, building materials, thermal power and other mechanical equipment to make wear-resistant parts. Under the condition of low impact, because the work hardening effect is not obvious, high manganese steel can not play the material characteristics. The grade of high manganese steel commonly used in China and its scope of application are: Zgmn13-1 (C 1.10% ~ 1.50%) for low impact parts, ZGMN13-2 (C1.00% ~ 1.40%) for ordinary parts, ZGMN13-3 (C0.90%~ 1.30%) for complex parts, ZGMn13-4(C0.90%~1.20%) for high impact parts. The manganese content of the above four grades of steel is 11.0% ~ 14.0%. In the process of cold deformation under impact load, the dislocation density increases greatly, the dislocation delivery, the dislocation packing and the interaction between the dislocation and solute atoms strengthen the steel. This is an important cause of work hardening. Another important reason is the low stacking fault energy of high manganese austenite, which is easy to appear stacking fault during deformation, thus creating conditions for the formation of ε martensite and deformation twins. High density dislocation, dislocation packing and entanglement can often be seen in the deformation hardening layer of high manganese steel with conventional composition. The appearance of martensite and deformation twins makes steel difficult to deform, especially the latter. All the above factors make the hardened layer of high manganese steel strengthened to a high degree, and the hardness is greatly increased. High manganese steel is easy to work hardening, so it is difficult to process, the vast majority of castings, a very small amount of forging method processing. The casting property of high manganese steel is better. The melting point of steel is low (about 14()() ° C), the temperature interval of the liquid and solid phase line of steel is small, (about 50 ° C), and the thermal conductivity of steel is low, so the liquid steel has good fluidity and is easy to cast. The linear expansion coefficient of high manganese steel is 1.5 times that of pure iron and 2 times that of carbon steel, so the volume shrinkage and linear shrinkage rate are large during casting, and it is easy to appear stress and cracks.

In order to improve the properties of high manganese steel, many studies have been carried out in alloying, microalloying, carbon and manganese content adjustment and precipitation strengthening treatment, and have been applied in production practice. The emergence of metastable austenitic manganese steel can greatly reduce the carbon and manganese content in steel and increase the deformation strengthening speed of steel, which can be applied to the working conditions of high and medium and low impact loads, which is a new development of high manganese steel.
