Astm A312 Tp304l
ASTM A312 TP304L is a standard specification for seamless, welded, and heavily cold worked austenitic stainless steel pipes. It covers nominal wall thickness and minimum wall thickness of stainless steel pipes that are intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service.
TP304L is a low carbon version of TP304, which is a commonly used grade of stainless steel. The "L" in TP304L stands for "low carbon," indicating that it has a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. This low carbon content helps to minimize the formation of carbide precipitation during welding, which can cause intergranular corrosion.
ASTM A312 TP304L pipes are commonly used in various industries such as chemical processing, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals. They are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good formability. These pipes can be produced in various sizes and dimensions, ranging from 1/8" to 24" in nominal diameter.
The mechanical properties of ASTM A312 TP304L include a minimum yield strength of 170 MPa (25,000 psi), a minimum tensile strength of 485 MPa (70,000 psi), and a minimum elongation of 35%. The pipes are typically annealed after fabrication to improve their mechanical properties and remove residual stresses.
In addition to ASTM A312, TP304L pipes may also comply with other standards such as ASME SA312, EN 10216-5, and JIS G3459. These pipes can be further classified into different types such as seamless pipes, welded pipes, and electric fusion welded pipes.
