NM450 steel is a high-strength wear-resistant steel plate material, usually manufactured by hot rolling technology. It is mainly composed of carbon, manganese, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements, with high wear resistance and impact resistance. Although NM450 steel can be formed and manufactured through a variety of processing processes, including forging and casting, the actual production is usually using hot rolling technology. This method requires the raw material blank to be heated and rolled under high temperature conditions to form a steel plate with a certain thickness and width.

NM450 Flame cutting and Welding:

Flame cutting should follow the following minimum preheating temperature: plate thickness 25 ~ 75mm75℃, plate thickness of more than 70mm 125℃. Manual arc welding should choose low residual moisture alkaline coated electrode, if necessary, should be dried according to the requirements of the electrode manufacturer, in addition, the following recommendations should also be considered: in general, 15mm thick steel plate for welding does not need to preheat. In order to prevent weld cracking when the structural rigidity is high, it is generally recommended to take a preheating temperature of 105~150℃ for the thick steel plate above 15mm. Preheating above 200 ° C must be avoided, as it will reduce the hardness.

NM450 Machining:

The NM450 can be machined using high speed steel bits, especially cobalt alloy high speed steel bits. If the proper drilling speed and cutting speed are adopted, the bit can obtain satisfactory service life.
